Vitor Bruno coaching situation at Anderlecht

Anderlecht head coach Vitor Bruno faced significant pressure following a 4-0 defeat to KAA Gent and an exit from the Belgian Cup. Reports indicated that the Portuguese manager may have only three matches to secure his position, as the team trailed the top three in the standings by seven points. Analysts criticized his frequent player rotations, with Marc Degryse alleging they serve as an “alibi to hide a lack of clear vision” rather than a calculated tactic.

Internal tensions have intensified, with CEO Kenneth Bornauw questioning the team’s mental strength and tactical squad composition. While majority shareholder Marc Coucke dismissed claims of a formal crisis and criticized the media for spreading “fake news”, he described Bruno as a “talented but inexperienced coach” who may be overthinking tactical setups.

Recent scrutiny has expanded to the relationship between Bruno and sporting director Antoine Sibierski, with Degryse suggesting the two may not be on the same wavelength. Despite these pressures, Bruno has defended his management style, maintaining that his rotation decisions are based on daily training observations and that discussions with management remain constructive.
