Volkswagen continues to expand its electric commercial offerings with the ID. Buzz Cargo Long Wheelbase (LWB). This variant features a 250 mm increase in wheelbase, providing a 4.4 m³ cargo volume and a loading length of 2,458 mm. To accommodate Euro pallets, the LWB model includes a second sliding door that is 19 cm wider than the standard ~~version.~~ version and offers a maximum payload of 700 kg. The model offers a choice between rear-wheel drive (210 kW/286 hp) or 4MOTION all-wheel drive (250 kW/340 hp), both powered by an 86 kWh battery. Technological updates include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality and software featuring Travel Assist with traffic light recognition and One-Pedal-Driving. In the United States, the return of the ID. Buzz electric minibus has been delayed. Originally anticipated for the 2027 model year, the vehicle is now scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2027 as a 2028 model year vehicle. This delay follows lower-than-expected sales, with approximately 6,140 units moved during its initial launch year. The upcoming 2028 model is expected to feature updated software, digital key integration, and a transition to NACS-style charging ports.
