Vorasidenib clinical development and recognition

Overview

Clinical research presented at the European Association of Neuro-Oncology congress in Rome indicated that vorasidenib achieved disease control in 96% of patients with grade 2 gliomas. This study, conducted across seven hospitals in Andalusia, analyzed 58 patients treated between 2024 and 2025. The drug targets mutated IDH1 and IDH2 enzymes, with the studied group showing a median overall survival of approximately 13 years.

Following these developments, Servier Group Italy received the Prix Galien Italia 2026 in the ‘Neurosciences and Psychopharmacology’ category for the therapy. Vorasidenib is recognized as the first and only oral targeted monotherapy for grade 2 astrocytoma or oligodendroglioma in patients with specific IDH1 or IDH2 mutations. In Italy, the Italian Medicines Agency approved reimbursement for the medication on October 15.
