Voyah Passion S electric vehicle launch

Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s premium brand, Voyah, has launched the Passion S, a medium-to-large pure electric fastback utility vehicle (FUV). The vehicle features the “Kunpeng Wing” aesthetic, characterized by ring-shaped headlights and a luminous Voyah logo, with a drag coefficient of 0.24.

The launch gained significant attention due to a demonstration in which the production-spec vehicle completed a “360-degree tunnel loop” inside a closed tunnel in Wuhan. To perform the maneuver, the driver entered the curved tunnel wall at approximately 130 km/h with a steering angle of roughly 16 degrees. This generated the centripetal force required to keep the vehicle attached to the surface, including the ceiling. The manufacturer noted that the stunt was performed with a full battery and an unmodified vehicle, utilizing its low-mounted battery pack and instant torque to maintain stability. The maneuver was described as a tribute to a famous Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG commercial.

To address skepticism regarding the authenticity of the stunt, Voyah released unedited, single-take footage. The company claims the Passion S is the first production vehicle in the world to successfully complete this specific maneuver, which serves as a direct response to claims that previous similar advertisements used computer-generated imagery.

Technical specifications include an 800V high-voltage platform supporting 5C super-fast charging, with 81 kWh and 98 kWh battery options providing a range of up to 740 km. The interior is equipped with a dual 15.6-inch 2.5K cockpit display, a 29-inch augmented reality head-up display, and an 8.8-inch instrument panel. Advanced technology includes the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system, Harmony Space 5.2 infotainment, and an 896-line LiDAR. Performance options include a 300 kW rear-wheel-drive motor or a 475 kW all-wheel-drive dual-motor version.
