Wage disputes and legal challenges involving Leo Rey
Overview
Former dancer Kamila López accused singer Leo Rey and the management of the musical group La Noche of withholding wages from staff members. López alleged that musicians faced long periods without remuneration and claimed that while payments were accumulating, the singer’s partner and manager were profiting from the funds. Leo Rey dismissed these claims on social media, labeling them “falacias y mentiras” (fallacies and lies).
Following these allegations, a separate legal challenge was filed by former sound technician Luis Meza Santa Cruz. Meza Santa Cruz has requested that the San Felipe Labor Collection Court freeze and limit the commercial exploitation of the “Leo Rey” trademark. This request stems from a 2014 lawsuit regarding unjustified dismissal and unpaid wages exceeding five million pesos. If the court grants the injunction, the singer could be prohibited from using his stage name for festivals, concerts, and commercial contracts to ensure debt recovery.
