Walt Disney World Test Track ride issues

Overview

In late July 2026 Disney re‑enabled the signature sliding‑door effect on EPCOT’s Test Track attraction, a feature that had been disabled after a 2025 incident in which a vehicle struck the foam doors and injured four guests. The restored effect now opens earlier in the launch sequence to block light bleed rather than serve its original storytelling purpose.

Just days later, on 1 August 2026, the ride suffered a major mechanical failure that forced a shutdown lasting more than 24 hours, stranding thousands of guests. Emergency doors remained open, air‑conditioning stopped, and the finale doors stayed non‑functional. Within weeks the attraction returned to full operation, with all loading rows active and the previously disabled finale sliding doors restored, improving throughput and reducing standby times. Disney has not publicly explained the cause of the outage.
