Waste collection service limitations in Poland

The Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point (PSZOK) in Rabowice suspended the acceptance of several waste types, including tires, bulky waste, and electronic equipment, starting August 24, 2026. This followed a prior suspension of biodegradable waste acceptance earlier in the month. The Swarzędz municipality stated the suspension resulted from the “total exhaustion of limits specified in the waste collection permit” rather than technical issues, with full services not expected to resume until January 2027.

To mitigate the impact, Kleszczewo authorities established an emergency solution allowing residents to deliver waste to the Nagradowice sewage treatment plant on specific Wednesdays and Saturdays, subject to registration.

More broadly, waste collection points in Poland operate under specific municipal regulations. While facilities are intended for household waste, they may refuse materials from commercial activities or items that do not meet local guidelines, such as certain hazardous materials, agricultural tires, or medical waste. Local councils maintain the authority to set specific volume limits on items like construction debris and used tires.
