France faces severe water scarcity and economic fallout

By late 2026, France continued to manage the economic and logistical fallout of a record-breaking summer of heat and drought. A parliamentary mission estimated the combined impact of heatwaves, droughts, and wildfires at approximately 16 billion euros, including a nearly 3 billion euro reduction in GDP growth.
