Waterloo Region District School Board initiatives

Overview

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) has introduced several administrative and community initiatives. The board implemented a ‘Disconnecting from Work Protocol’ to support staff mental health and work-life balance, in alignment with Ontario’s Working for Workers Act. This protocol encourages employees to respond to communications during regular Monday through Friday working hours, with exceptions for pre-scheduled meetings.

Additionally, the WRDSB has opened applications for the 2026-27 Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grant. Funded by the Ministry of Education, these grants are intended to help families and caregivers propose projects that improve school environments, enhance communication, or support family participation in educational decision-making.
