On 28 July 2026, Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition signed a memorandum with Vertiv to support the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, focusing on data-center power, cooling and cloud capacity, including a planned 50-MW sovereign facility. The same day, a local ICT federation partnered with a digital-law association to extend digital-trust services to SMEs, with APEBI President Rachid Ressani stating, “Digital trust must not be a privilege reserved for large companies.” The following day, Mauritania announced a series of agreements with Oman to cooperate on AI, cybersecurity and skills development, and convened a UNDP-backed workshop on a national blockchain strategy for public services such as land registration and procurement. Minister Ahmed Salem Ould Bede noted that blockchain could improve data governance and reduce costs. Expanding these international partnerships, Morocco and India held talks in Rabat on 24 August 2026 to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence. The discussions focused on public digital infrastructure, digital identity, and electronic payments. Both nations agreed to establish a joint committee to work on digital languages and technologies, specifically targeting Large Language Models (LLM) and Small Language Models (SLM). A key goal of this initiative is to integrate Moroccan Darija and Amazigh into the ‘idarati.ma’ platform to facilitate citizen interaction with government services through the Al-Jazari Institute. By 28 August 2026, the partnership with India evolved to include leveraging India’s experience with multilingual AI, such as the BHASHINI platform. The collaboration aims to use both large and small language models to make Morocco’s digital transformation more inclusive. This initiative supports the expansion of the Al-Jazari Institute into a national network to support Arabic, Amazigh, and Darija within digital public services. On 9 September 2026, Morocco unveiled its ‘Morocco AI 2030’ roadmap, a national strategy designed to establish digital sovereignty and drive economic growth.
