West African land governance and conflict prevention

Overview

In July 2026, initiatives were launched in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire to address land governance and conflict prevention. In Burkina Faso, the National Observatory for the Prevention and Management of Community Conflicts (ONAPREGECC) held a session in Koubri to train local officials and religious leaders on managing land disputes and addressing financing challenges.

Simultaneously, in Côte d’Ivoire, residents of Krohon participated in a simulation workshop under the FOCA project. This effort involved cocoa producers, local authorities, women, and youth to promote consensus-based land security and the certification of rural land titles to reduce potential disputes.
