The flames engulfed containers and stalls selling fish, chicken, clothing and other goods, causing material losses estimated in the hundreds of millions of Guinean francs. Again, there were no fatalities, but traders called for financial assistance and for improvements to market layout and safety protocols to avert future disasters.
