Western Balkans industrial park EU integration
Overview
Under the framework of the 2026 Berlin Process and the Action Plan for a Common Regional Market 2025–2028, industrial zones in Montenegro and North Macedonia have entered into a partnership with the European Union to foster regional economic integration.
In Montenegro, the Nedakusi Business Zone in Bijelo Polje became the first entity from the country to join the European network of industrial parks. This was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed during the Montenegro Economy Conference in Budva, aimed at connecting local businesses with European investors and integrating regional industries into European value chains.
Simultaneously, the Zhabeni Industrial Zone in Bitola, North Macedonia, signed a similar memorandum of understanding in Budva. As the only entity from North Macedonia to join the agreement, the zone aims to facilitate the transfer of environmentally sustainable practices and harmonize regional standards with EU regulations to support integration into the EU single market.
