Western Union remittance expansion in the Philippines
Overview
Western Union has expanded its remittance services in the Philippines through both digital asset integration and physical network partnerships.
In late August 2026, the digital asset exchange PDAX integrated Western Union’s USDPT stablecoin. This Solana-based asset, issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, allows Filipino users and freelancers to trade and hold U.S. dollar-denominated assets to bypass traditional banking hours and fees.
Following this, Western Union partnered with JuanPay to increase physical access to international money transfers. The collaboration utilizes approximately 1,400 locations within the JuanPay network to reach Overseas Filipino Workers and families, particularly those in provincial areas distant from traditional bank branches.
