Świdnica bike training town inauguration

Overview

The city of Świdnica, Poland, opened a modernised “traffic‑town” for cyclists in late July 2026. On 24 July the facility – a colour‑coded road‑training area near Primary School No. 8 – was inaugurated with local officials and featured a roundabout, bike‑crossings and updated signage. The refurbishment cost about 270 000 zł, funded by the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the city budget.

Three days later, on 27 July, municipal leaders reiterated the opening, stating the construction expense at 180 000 zł. In the same report, attention shifted to the adjacent former juvenile‑detention centre, which remains vacant and incurs monthly security costs. The Territorial Defence Forces expressed interest in repurposing the 3.5‑hectare site, but no transfer decision has been made.
