These initiatives use planned grazing to manage dry brush and weeds, serving as a defense against seasonal fires while restoring soil health and biodiversity. Recent major forest fires have shifted focus toward recovery and large-scale reforestation. In the Valencian Community, authorities are managing the aftermath of fires that destroyed nearly 10,000 hectares, including the Serra d’Espadà. Local cork producers warn that damage to cork oak trees could delay harvests for up to 45 years. In Castilla y León, the regional government is seeking central government support for restoration in the Tiétar and Alberche valleys, while in the Bierzo region, local platforms have questioned if the 500,000 euros allocated for hydrological-forestry works is sufficient to recover 1,300 hectares of burned land. Prevention efforts continue to expand through specialized projects. The Proyecto Mosaico, developed by the University of Extremadura, is being reactivated in Sierra de Gata and Las Hurdes to utilize agricultural and livestock activities to reduce fuel loads. Furthermore, in Galicia, virtual grazing technology with native livestock is being employed to manage vegetation and create natural firebreaks.
