Wildfires have impacted various regions across British Columbia. In mid-August, lightning-sparked blazes caused significant concern near Golden and Revelstoke. The Sea Lion Mountain fire scorched approximately 1,144 hectares in steep terrain near Yoho and Banff national parks, while other fires in the northern Selkirk Mountains, such as the Nightmare FSR and Gannet Creek fires, remained out of control. By late August, emergency response efforts expanded to include both wildfires and structure fires.
