William Kentridge exhibitions in Greece

Overview

South African artist William Kentridge is scheduled for major exhibitions in Greece.

In late 2026, the National Archaeological Museum will host ‘Imitate the sleep of stones,’ an exhibition curated by Burcu Fikretoglu. Running from October 20, 2026, to January 20, 2027, the event coincides with Kentridge’s direction of Claudio Monteverdi’s opera ‘Orpheus’ at the Greek National Opera. The exhibition seeks to create a dialogue between contemporary art and ancient artifacts, including a 5th-century BC clay kylix on loan from the Acropolis Museum.

Following this, the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) has announced a large-scale solo exhibition titled ‘The Great Yes, the Great No.’ Scheduled to open on June 3, 2027, this co-production with BOZAR in Brussels will feature over 100 works spanning drawing, animation, sculpture, and video, with a specific focus on the intersections of image, text, music, and live action.
