Willows Green unauthorized site protest

Residents of Willows Green, near Felsted, Essex, have organized protests outside the Uttlesford District Council offices to demand enforcement against an unauthorized development on agricultural land. The Willows Green Action Group alleges that caravans and mobile homes were established on land north of Mole Hill Green Road following the dumping of approximately 50 loads of hardcore during the May bank holiday weekend.

Despite a Temporary Stop Notice issued in May and a permanent High Court injunction granted in June, protesters claim residential activity persists. Residents have provided evidence, such as aerial imagery and photographs, to suggest the continued arrival of new units and domestic waste.

Local representatives have criticized the council for its perceived inaction, noting that the council reportedly failed to intervene because no reports of racism or threats of violence occurred during the initial incursion. Protesters have contrasted the situation with East Herts District Council, which utilized court and police intervention to swiftly prevent an illegal development in Sawbridgeworth from being occupied.
