Windows 10 end of support and driver implications

Overview

Microsoft is scheduled to end official support for the Windows 10 operating system on October 12, 2026. Following this date, users who do not enroll in the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program will no longer receive regular security updates, potentially increasing device vulnerability to malware and ransomware.

In response to the lifecycle of the operating system, NVIDIA has announced it will end support for GeForce Game Ready and Studio drivers on Windows 10 by October 2026. While NVIDIA will continue to provide security updates for GeForce graphics cards on the older system until October 2029, new driver updates, performance optimizations for new games, and features like DLSS will become exclusive to Windows 11 starting in November 2026.
