Wizz Air’s 2026 expansion continues with significant growth in Italy, Central Europe, and the Balkans. The carrier inaugurated a new operational base at Palermo Falcone‑Borsellino Airport, initially utilizing two Airbus A321neo aircraft with a third scheduled for September. This Sicilian base supports 18 routes to 13 countries, including connections to Barcelona, Marrakech, Dortmund, Prague, and Tel Aviv, and is expected to provide over 1.3 million seats in 2026. In Italy, the airline is strengthening its network with new services from Lamezia Terme to Milan Malpensa and Turin starting in late October. By December, Wizz Air plans to launch six additional routes from major Italian bases, including Milan to Berlin, Milan to Cagliari, Venice to Cagliari, Rome to Santiago de Compostela, Milan to Tromsø, and Naples to Hurghada. To support this, an Airbus A321neo will be stationed at Milan Malpensa, bringing the local fleet to 12 aircraft. Additionally, Wizz Air has renewed a strategic partnership with Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, where it will become the second-largest airline with an 11.5% market share and approximately 1.3 million seats in 2026. The airline has officially inaugurated a new operational base at Turin Airport, beginning with the arrival of an Airbus A321neo repositioned from Milan Malpensa. The local fleet is expected to expand to two aircraft by October 25, 2026, providing approximately 1.3 million seats. New routes through Turin include Bilbao, Barcelona, Valencia, and Rome Fiumicino, with further services to Lamezia Terme, Madrid, Malaga, Napoli, Sharm el Sheikh, and Suceava scheduled through December 2026.
