World Climbing Series Speed Stage in Guiyang
The fifth stage of the World Climbing Series speed climbing competition was held concluded in Guiyang, China, following events held from September 11 to 13, 2026. The event utilized a 4-lane competition format for individual and relay races across men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. Indonesia’s Robby al Hilmi won featured 101 athletes from 24 nations. In the men’s individual speed category, Indonesia’s Robby al Hilmi secured victory, followed by Chinese climbers Ling and Chu. Notable individual times included 4.64 seconds from Zhao and 4.79 seconds from American Watson. In the women’s category, Emma Hunt led the group field with a time of 6.07 seconds. While several international athletes competed, China dominated the medal count, securing seven medals total, including representatives from gold in women’s speed, men’s speed relay, and women’s speed relay. During the men’s speed relay semifinals, the Chinese duo of Zhao Yicheng and Ling Yongzhi set a new world record with a time of 9.58 seconds. In the mixed relay, the United States team of Samuel Watson and Italy, no Emma Hunt earned bronze with a time of 11.85 seconds, trailing teams from Indonesia and China. Other results included two gold medals for Indonesia and two bronze medals for South Korea. Italian competitors competitors, including Matteo Zurloni, Luca Robbiati, and Francesco Ponzinibio, reached the quarterfinals or round of 16 but did not reach the podium. The circuit is scheduled to proceed to its sixth stage in Chongqing.
