Wrestling community support for Tanea Brooks' ALS diagnosis

Overview

Following the news that former wrestler Tanea Brooks (known as Rebel) was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the professional wrestling community has organized several initiatives to raise awareness and funds.

TNA Wrestling honored Brooks during an iMPACT! broadcast, while All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced a special benefit episode titled “Rebel Heart” scheduled for September 9, 2026, in Athens, Georgia. This event aims to honor Brooks and will include donations to ALS organizations such as “I AM ALS” and “Team Gleason”.

Various wrestlers have joined the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to support the campaign. Following nominations from Beth Phoenix, Natalya participated and nominated Bayley, Angelo Dawkins, and Brodie Lee Jr. Bayley completed the challenge, nominating several WWE and independent performers. Cody Rhodes also completed the challenge after being nominated by his brother, Dustin Rhodes; Cody subsequently nominated Brodie Lee Jr., Brooke Havoc, and Chelsea Green. Brodie Lee Jr. has since completed the challenge following Cody Rhodes’ nomination.

This public display of support has been joined by other industry peers such as Britt Baker, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Asuka.
