The WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan continues to see significant movement across singles and doubles draws.

Slovak wildcard Mia Pohánková advanced to the round of 16 after a three-set victory against local player Wang Si-jü, winning 7:6 (2), 6:7 (7), and 6:1. This performance, which earned her 120 ranking points, is expected to propel the nearly 18-year-old to the position of Slovak number one, surpassing Rebecca Šramková. Her next scheduled opponent is Greece’s Maria Sakkari.

In the singles competition, Jasmine Paolini’s run ended in the round of 16 following a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Sonay Kartal. However, Paolini remains active in the doubles category, where she and Sara Errani have advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls.

Top-seeded doubles pairing Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski have progressed to the final.
