Wyoming Frontier Stable Token technological implementation

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission, which launched the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) in January 2026 as the first U.S. state-issued stable token, has implemented several technological upgrades to its infrastructure.

In August 2026, the Commission completed a migration of FRNT from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). Executive Director Anthony Apollo noted that Chainlink was the only provider to meet the Commission’s “stringent security and reliability requirements across the board,” citing its defense-in-depth security approach and SOC2 Type 2 certifications.

By September 2026, the Commission expanded its use of Chainlink by adopting Proof of Reserve technology. This system provides near real-time, onchain verification of the U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasuries backing the token. This measure is intended to exceed the transparency requirements of the federal GENIUS Act, which only mandates monthly disclosures that offer a “point-in-time” view. The new framework combines automated onchain checks with independent audits conducted by The Network Firm to bridge information gaps between traditional reporting periods.

Additionally, the Commission is working to implement Chainlink’s Secure Mint mechanism. This feature would programmatically prevent the issuance of new FRNT tokens unless verified reserves are confirmed to meet or exceed the total outstanding supply. Revenue generated from the reserve assets is directed toward Wyoming’s School Foundation Program to support public education.
