Xiquets de Valls human tower performances

Overview

The Xiquets de Valls human tower groups, Colla Vella and Colla Joves, participated in two distinct cultural events in Catalonia.

Initially, the groups performed at the Sagrada Família to commemorate the centenary of architect Antoni Gaudí. The ceremony involved approximately 600 participants and featured simultaneous 3-de-8 towers inside the basilica alongside various formations outside. Valls Mayor Dolors Farré described the tribute as a “luxury that will probably never happen again.”

Later, the groups performed at the Plaça del Blat during a National Diada event. This performance was characterized by a more cautious approach to complex structures. While both groups successfully completed basic nine-story towers, the Colla Vella experienced a collapse during an attempt at a 4d9fp when a pillar gave way. Both groups subsequently focused on more conservative towers to ensure stability.
