XRP Ledger financial infrastructure integration

Overview

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) continues its integration into global and regional financial infrastructures. ACI Worldwide, which processes approximately 9% of global SWIFT traffic, has listed the XRPL as a supported distributed ledger technology settlement rail within SWIFT’s multi-chain ledger framework. This utilizes Ripple’s compatibility with the ISO 20022 messaging standard to facilitate faster settlements and allows banks to utilize XRP for On-Demand Liquidity.

In Brazil, the infrastructure provider CSD BR, managing over BRL 22 trillion in assets, is integrating the XRPL into its regulated securities infrastructure. This partnership aims to mirror securities ownership on the blockchain to support the administration and settlement of conventional assets, such as investment fund shares from BTG Pactual, without replacing existing legal frameworks. While CSD BR remains the official source of record, the blockchain acts as a secondary layer for real-time auditing and transparency, with potential future expansions into real estate and agribusiness receivables.

Technically, the XRPL is preparing for the BatchV1_1 upgrade, which will allow for the bundling of up to eight transactions. This upgrade has received support from 30 of 35 verified validators, with October 9, 2026, identified as a potential earliest date for activation.
