The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has undergone technical updates to prepare for native lending services. Initially, the network activated the ‘fixCleanup3_3_0’ amendment, a maintenance step designed to resolve errors in protocol components such as Automated Market Makers (AMM), vaults, and lending protocols. Following this, the XRP Ledger Foundation released xrpld server software version 3.4.0. This version introduces the LendingProtocolV1_1 amendment, which features closed-ended vaults involving subscription, investment, and redemption stages. During the investment phase, deposits and withdrawals are restricted. The update also implements a cash-basis accounting model for new vaults to ensure interest is only recorded upon repayment, preventing unrealized interest from affecting asset prices. This accounting change will not be applied retroactively to existing vaults. As of late September October 2026, the network has initiated validator is in the process of voting on these lending-related amendments. Developers released the LendingProtocolV1_1 amendment. This procedural milestone aims update to establish native lending infrastructure by extending address flaws in the SingleAssetVault and LendingProtocol amendments.
