Overview

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has undergone technical updates to prepare for native lending services. Initially, the network activated the ‘fixCleanup3_3_0’ amendment, a maintenance step designed to resolve errors in protocol components such as Automated Market Makers (AMM), vaults, and lending protocols.

Following this, the XRP Ledger Foundation released xrpld server software version 3.4.0. This version introduces the LendingProtocolV1_1 amendment, which features closed-ended vaults involving subscription, investment, and redemption stages. The update also implements a cash-basis accounting model for new vaults to ensure interest is only recorded upon repayment, preventing unrealized interest from affecting asset prices. While the software is released, full activation of these lending features on the mainnet requires the amendment to receive support from over 80% of validators for a continuous two-week period.
