Yeongyang County has undertaken efforts to promote and protect its chili pepper industry. In late July 2026, the county hosted the Yeongyang Chili H.O.T. Festival in at Seoul Plaza. Proposed solutions include establishing a minimum production cost guarantee and expanding government procurement. Concurrently, the Yeongyang Chili Pepper Distribution Corporation announced plans to procure over 5,700 tons of red chili peppers from local farms to support producers facing climate and economic challenges.
