Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall programming and education

Overview

Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall has announced several upcoming musical projects and educational initiatives.

Violinist Yasuhisa Ishida, the Hall Producer for the 2025-2027 term, scheduled two special concert series to mark the conclusion of his tenure. The first, ‘Ishida-gumi Year-End Thanksgiving 2026’, will feature Bartók’s ‘Divertimento for Strings’ and include a performance by ‘Ishida-gumi Junior’, a group of nine elementary school violinists. The second series, ‘Ishida-gumi Orchestra featuring Guest Soloist Fujio Tokunaga’, is set for February 2027 and will feature an 80-member orchestra and the world premiere of a new violin concerto by Masanori Kato.

Additionally, the Hall launched a “Junior Producer” program for junior high school students. This initiative involves 20 selected participants who will assist in planning and executing the “Children’s Day Concert 2027” on May 5, 2027. Under professional guidance, students will engage in tasks such as scriptwriting, stage management, and public relations to gain experience in concert production.
