Yongin Special City Council approves Bandabi Sports Center construction plan

Yongin Special City is relaunching its plan to construct the Bandabi Sports Center following three rejections of its public property management plan by the city council. To resolve the impasse, the city held meetings with disability sports organizations and stakeholders to integrate user feedback into the facility’s design. Key requests included improved shower and changing facilities, flexible operating hours, and enhanced transportation access via shuttle services. The city has committed to incorporating these features, such as increased shower fixtures and variable seating, into the design of the 23,700 square meter facility. The project has secured 4 billion won in national funds through a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism contest. The city intends to resubmit the project to During its 306th regular session, the Yongin Special City Council during its September extraordinary session. officially approved the construction plan for the center, marking a successful fourth attempt at passage. Located at the Yongin Mireu Stadium temporary parking site in Samga-dong, the facility will feature a 50-meter, 10-lane swimming pool with over 2,000 seats. The approved design includes an expanded dedicated disabled swimming area of 310 square meters. Following this approval, the city will proceed with feasibility studies and move toward the basic and detailed design phases.
