ZDF investigations into sexual misconduct

Overview

ZDF has released investigative documentaries addressing different instances of sexual misconduct within German-speaking sectors.

One investigation, ‘Missbrauch: Insider schockt die Techno-Szene’, examines allegations of sexual assault and misconduct within the techno music scene. The report follows accusations made by a former concert agency employee and notes that over 300 women reported experiences via the ‘MeTooDJ’ Instagram page. The documentary names DJs CARV and Odymel, noting partial admissions to allegations, and discusses the impact on festival organizers in Germany and Belgium.

A separate investigation, ‘Tatort Jugendfußball’, focuses on sexual abuse within German youth football. The documentary features testimonies from victims and identifies 44 criminal proceedings involving more than 200 victims across various German cities. The report highlights structural failures in both amateur and professional environments and includes calls for the German Football Association (DFB) to prioritize child protection and preventative measures.
