Zimbabwe Mnangagwa family criminal investigations

Overview

Authorities in Zimbabwe have launched investigations into a criminal enterprise involving the family of Collins Mnangagwa, son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The probe includes allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering.

In Bulawayo, three women—Dyonne Tanaka Tafirenyika, Amina Jassinta Jessub Arab, and Noreen Jessub—were arrested after police allegedly recovered cocaine and crystal methamphetamine during searches of their rooms. During the arrest, authorities reportedly seized US$53,055 in cash from Tafirenyika, which prosecutors have characterized as “proceeds of crime”.

Following their arrest, a Bulawayo magistrate denied bail to the three women, citing the strength of the state’s case and a high risk of absconding due to the accused possessing valid passports and significant funds.

Separately, police are investigating Kelsea Tafirenyika, the second wife of Collins Mnangagwa, for money laundering. She is accused of acquiring at least 54 properties using funds allegedly stolen from Collins Mnangagwa. Meanwhile, Collins Mnangagwa is reportedly in Dubai undergoing rehabilitation for drug addiction.
