Severe weather conditions continue to impact much of South and Central America, driven by low-pressure systems, moisture, and El Niño. In Argentina, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued widespread orange and yellow alerts for severe storms, intense rainfall, hail, and wind gusts. In Misiones, a powerful thunderstorm characterized by intense rainfall, lightning, wind gusts, and large hail struck the central region, including Campo Viera, San Pedro, Campo Grande, Aristóbulo del Valle, and Dos de Mayo. Police reports indicate significant property damage, including 40 homes, one commercial premises, and two vehicles, with Campo Grande suffering the most extensive impact, including 26 damaged homes. Rising water levels in the Paraná, Uruguay, and Iguazú river basins have caused deaths and forced evacuations. In Chaco, flooded roads have cut off access to Colonia Benítez, while between 1,200 and 1,300 people have been displaced, primarily in Puerto Vilelas and Barranqueras. In Corrientes, over 1,000 people have fled their homes, including neighborhoods in Paso de la Patria following a dam failure. Two rural workers died in Corrientes while attempting to move livestock to safety. In Neuquén, Rincón de los Sauces remains isolated after the Carranza stream destroyed a bridge on Provincial Route 5, necessitating emergency aerial operations to evacuate critical patients. In Bajada del Agrio, prolonged rains have caused water turbidity issues. In San Rafael, the Diamante River's rise has forced evacuations in Los Coroneles and La Cañadita, while in Comallo, the Comallo stream overflow has cut off access via Provincial Route 67. In Paraguay, the National Emergency Secretariat estimates that 20,000 families will be affected this season, with approximately 2,000 families already evacuated due to damage in departments such as Alto Paraná, Ñeembucú, Misiones, and Itapúa. Newer meteorological warnings have expanded the scope of instability.
