ZXMoto, a Chongqing-based manufacturer, has initiated a global expansion strategy following success in the FIM Supersport World Championship. The company aims to compete with established brands by offering models like the 820RR at prices approximately 30 percent lower than foreign competitors. To meet rising demand, the factory has moved to 24-hour operations, with sales projections increasing from 25,000 units in 2025 to 100,000 units this year. Building on this momentum, ZXMoto has revealed the production version of its 820X adventure motorcycle. This model features a significant redesign from its previous EICMA concept, including a redesigned headlight configuration, a wider windscreen, and robust aluminum engine protection. The 820X is powered by an 818cc or 819cc triple-cylinder engine delivering approximately 85 kW (117 CV), enabling a top speed of 220 km/h. To compete with established models such as the Yamaha Tracer 9 and Honda Africa Twin, the 820X incorporates high-end technology like adaptive cruise control, electronic suspension, and front and rear cameras. ZXMoto has also announced plans to enter the Australian market with its 500RR and 820RR models. Expanding its technical ambitions, CEO Zhang Xue has announced the development of a high-performance superbike featuring an unconventional V5 engine configuration. This project, targeting a 2028 racing debut, involves a displacement of approximately 1,000 cc. Developed in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology of China, the engine will utilize aerospace-grade forged components and features a design with three cylinders tilted forward and two tilted backward. While official specifications are pending, circulating reports suggest the engine could produce 253 hp. If successful, this engine could facilitate ZXMoto’s transition from the FIM Supersport World Championship to the WorldSBK category, though a V5 configuration is not currently included in standard WorldSBK technical regulations.
