Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh pushes Dutch‑German funded water tank project
Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh inspected the water‑infrastructure works in the Al‑Burazakh area of the Khur Makassar district. The project, financed by the Netherlands and Germany through the Social Development Fund, includes a new iron underground water tank, a modern water‑quality laboratory, and the rehabilitation of an old tank that is over 70 years old. Sheikh stressed that completing the new tank is a priority to secure stable water supplies for the districts of Kreiter, Khur Makassar, Al‑Mala and Al‑Tawahi, and ordered that the second phase – refurbishing the old tank – begin as soon as the new one is finished.
The €4 million programme also covers an 18,000 m³ new tank, a 20,000 m³ tank upgrade, new water‑pumping stations, water‑purification units and the laboratory. Officials say the work will improve service reliability, raise the efficiency of the water sector and involve community committees in monitoring water quality.
