Major developments are underway regarding Romania's motorway infrastructure. The A7 motorway, described by former minister Cristian Ghinea as the largest single project funded by EU National Recovery and Resilience Plans, has reached a significant milestone. Following the opening of the Adjud-Bacău sector, the Bacău Nord road junction and the 16-kilometer Bacău Bypass have been reopened to traffic. This allows drivers to travel from Bucharest to Bacău Nord entirely on motorways (A3 and A7) in under three hours.

Currently, approximately 241.62 kilometers of the total 319-kilometer A7 route are operational. Work continues on the Bacău-Pașcani section, which is expected to be completed by 2026.

In other infrastructure news, the Romanian government has approved a 770 million lei investment to modernize DN 73C, aiming to connect Râmnicu Vâlcea to the Sibiu-Pitești motorway. Additionally, the Momaia Tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitești motorway has entered a critical testing phase for its safety, ventilation, and traffic management systems.
