Asante Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler departs for South Africa

Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has departed the Ghanaian club following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Tinkler clarified that his resignation was not prompted by the team’s recent 2-0 defeat against Aduana FC, but was a decision made prior to the match due to an attractive coaching offer in South Africa. He is reportedly expected to join Durban City in the Premier Soccer League.

Following the departure, football analyst Kojo Addae-Mensah has urged the Kumasi-based club to prioritize appointing a highly qualified local Ghanaian coach. Addae-Mensah emphasized the importance of coaches obtaining proper professional licenses and badges to ensure technical stability for the club as they begin their search for a replacement.
