Asante Kotoko hires foreign director of football and coach Eric Tinkler

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have appointed a foreign director of football and South African head coach Eric Tinkler to lead the team. Former communications director Sarfo Duku said he had long advocated for expatriates in those roles, arguing that a fresh approach was needed to improve discipline and attitude within the squad.

Duku noted that the club had been facing disciplinary challenges and injuries to key players, and he believes Tinkler’s experience can restore order and boost performance ahead of the 2026/27 season. Kotoko will open the campaign with an away match against Debibi United FC before hosting Hearts of Lions at home.
