Benelux braces for possible fourth heatwave as temperatures near 35 °C

The Dutch weather service KNMI forecasts warm and dry conditions in North Brabant and Limburg, with daytime temperatures expected to climb to about 35 °C on Wednesday and Thursday. A fourth regional heatwave could be declared if five consecutive summer days are recorded, at least three of which reach 30 °C, but no official yellow warning has yet been issued.

In Belgium, meteorologists warn that a “French heat cannon” – warm air flowing from France – may raise temperatures to 30‑32 °C later this week. Forecast models show a realistic chance of a new heatwave that could differ from the extreme event at the end of June, meeting the national criteria of five days above 25 °C with at least three days above 30 °C in Ukkel. Experts advise residents to ventilate homes now and keep windows and curtains closed once the heat peaks, to mitigate indoor temperature buildup.
