Burendag sets record with over 10,000 community activities
The 21st edition of Burendag, a major social initiative in the Netherlands, has set a new record with over 10,400 registered neighborhood activities. This milestone marks the first time the event has surpassed 10,000 activities.
Organized by Douwe Egberts and the Oranje Fonds, the event expects more than 600,000 participants across the country. Activities range from neighborhood barbecues and green projects to street games and communal meals, aimed at strengthening local social ties and community resilience. Sandra Jetten, director of the Oranje Fonds, noted that activities are taking place in every Dutch municipality, highlighting a widespread desire for local connection.
