Cardiovascular health linked to morning coffee and weekend sleep
Recent research published in the European Heart Journal suggests that lifestyle habits such as sleep patterns and coffee consumption timing may influence cardiovascular health.
A study involving over 90,000 individuals from the UK Biobank indicates that catching up on sleep during the weekend may reduce the risk of heart disease. Participants who used the weekend to recover lost sleep showed approximately a 19% to 20% lower risk of conditions such as coronary disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and stroke compared to those who did not compensate for sleep loss.
Additionally, research involving over 40,000 adults from the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) found that consuming coffee in the morning is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality and general mortality. This benefit was more pronounced in morning drinkers compared to those who consume coffee throughout the entire day.
