Croatian cities recognized in Best City 2026 awards

Velika Gorica has been named the most attractive city to live in Croatia for the second consecutive year as part of the ‘Best City 2026’ awards. The recognition, organized by Jutarnji list, Gradonačelnik.hr, and Ipsos, is based on demographic data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. The city recorded a positive migration balance of 929 residents in 2025, including 531 people moving from other parts of Croatia.

Cres secured third place among small cities in the Quality of Life category. Key factors contributing to this ranking include an average income of 6,246 euros per inhabitant and a low unemployment rate of nine per thousand residents. The city provides free kindergarten services at Girice for all local children and offers various financial supports, including scholarships for students and those in deficit professions.
