Croatian cities receive various awards

Overview

Several Croatian cities have received recognition for quality of life, ecological efforts, and governance.

Velika Gorica was named the most attractive city to live in Croatia for the second consecutive year in the ‘Best City 2026’ awards, driven by positive migration trends. Additionally, the city of Cres ranked third among small cities in the Quality of Life category, noted for high average income and low unemployment.

Vinkovci won first place in the medium-sized cities category of the ‘Od izvora do mora’ ecological project following a significant waste cleanup operation. The city plans to use the award prize to increase urban greenery through tree planting.

Čakovec was awarded the European Label for Good Governance (ELoGE) by the Council of Europe for the second time in four years, recognizing the city’s administrative transparency and responsible resource management.
