Deezer to launch global filter for AI-generated music

Deezer has announced a new global feature, expected to roll out by the end of 2026, that allows users to completely exclude music entirely generated by artificial intelligence from their streaming experience and search results. When activated, the filter will hide AI-generated tracks, albums, and associated artist profiles.

This move follows previous measures where Deezer used detection tools to exclude AI content from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. The company reports receiving approximately 90,000 AI-generated tracks daily, which can account for over 50 percent of new uploads during peak periods. Deezer has already identified and removed over 42 million synthetic tracks and 14 million albums since early 2025 to combat streaming fraud, noting that up to 85 percent of AI-generated streams were found to be fraudulent attempts to siphon royalties.

The decision responds to consumer demand for transparency. An Ipsos study indicated that while 97 percent of listeners struggle to distinguish between human and synthetic music, a vast majority demand the right to be informed or to filter such content. In Austria, similar trends show declining public acceptance for AI-generated audio content, including music, weather, and traffic reports.
