Dutch driver arrested in France with €6.8 million in cocaine
A Dutch truck driver has been arrested in France after customs officials discovered over 231 kilograms of cocaine hidden in his vehicle. The drugs, which have an estimated street value of approximately €6.8 million, were found concealed within the truck's cabin ventilation system rather than the trailer.
The seizure occurred on August 27 near Corgoloin during a highway inspection. While the trailer was carrying Spanish sparkling wine at an unusually low transport cost, customs officers became suspicious of the driver's nervous behavior. Upon inspecting the cabin, they located the narcotics.
The driver has reportedly admitted to knowing the cocaine was in the vehicle. His court appearance is scheduled for October 14. Authorities are currently investigating whether the individual was acting independently or as part of a larger criminal organization.
