Electric vehicle charging initiatives launched in the Netherlands
New developments in the Netherlands aim to reduce costs and increase accessibility for electric vehicle (EV) users. Voltbee has launched a sharing platform via a mobile app that allows EV drivers to charge at private home stations. This system enables owners to monetize their charging infrastructure, potentially earning up to €1,500 by sharing surplus solar energy with the local community.
Separately, ride-hailing platform Bolt has partnered with Vattenfall InCharge to provide discounted charging rates for Bolt drivers at public charging stations across the Netherlands. The discount applies to both fast and standard chargers. Bolt reported that nearly 40% of its active vehicles in the country are already fully electric, with a goal of reaching 50% by 2027 as part of its broader commitment to net-zero emissions by 2040.
