Electric vehicle charging developments in the Netherlands

Various Dutch companies and platforms are introducing new technologies and services to optimize electric vehicle (EV) charging and grid integration. Hegg Energy has launched ‘Slim Laden’, a service that uses dynamic energy pricing to charge vehicles during periods when electricity is most sustainable and affordable. This service is compatible with major automotive brands and includes a partnership with Plugchoice to trade ERE certificates.

Simultaneously, BlueBird Power and Blue Current are piloting a program with approximately 200 smart home charging points to test capacity management across various energy markets. This initiative aims to simplify installation processes and scale to thousands of points by 2027.

Further initiatives focus on accessibility and monetization. Voltbee has introduced a mobile app allowing EV drivers to charge at private home stations, enabling owners to monetize their infrastructure by sharing surplus solar energy. Additionally, the ride-hailing platform Bolt has partnered with Vattenfall InCharge to offer discounted charging rates for its drivers at public stations as the company works toward its net-zero emissions goals.
