Poland detains six suspects for alleged espionage and military supply to Russia

Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) has detained six individuals suspected of acting on behalf of Russian intelligence services to support Russia’s military capabilities. The group, which includes five Polish citizens aged 25 to 52 and a 37-year-old Russian woman, allegedly supplied significant quantities of military components used in the production of ammunition and weapons systems.

Between October 21 and November 2, 2026, authorities conducted searches at 21 locations across the Warmian-Masurian, Pomeranian, and Greater Poland voivodeships. Investigators believe the group operated from at least June 2023 until December 2025, moving materials through Poland, Lithuania, and Russia. Some components, such as shell casings and projectiles, were reportedly transported using vehicles equipped with specially prepared hidden compartments.

A court has placed four of the suspects, including the Russian national, in three-month pretrial detention on espionage charges. The remaining two suspects are under non-custodial preventive measures. The investigation, supervised by the regional prosecutor’s office in Białystok, also addresses violations of international trade regulations regarding strategic defense technologies.

According to Polish intelligence coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak, nearly 100 people have been charged in connection with espionage and sabotage investigations conducted by the ABW since January 1, 2024.
